Finding the Signal
Excerpts from the Training Manual

To get the satellite coordinates to set on the antenna, enter your current zipcode into the satellite software zipcode database contained in the satellite modem. Simply access the modem using an Internet browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.

1.

Ensure that the tripod is level using the Bubble Level (included).

Set the Azimuth Coordinate on the compass attached.

The antenna is now pointed to the horizon where the satellite resides in orbit.

See illustration below explaining azimuth/elevation as it applies.

2.

Adjustments

Next set the Elevation Coordinate by unlocking the knobs and turning the Elevation Adjustment Knob to the correct elevation coordinate. Now the antenna is adjusted for elevation so it is directly in the path of the satellite signal.

This step is also used to peak the signal when found.

3.

Turn the Offset Bracket until the Digital Display at the antenna (next photo) shows a value of 31+.

Mode 0 - Signal Locked
Signal Value - 72

Signal is found and peaked.

How It Works

One satellite is assigned to your account for the lifetime of your 24-month contract.

The satellite pointing software is in the HughesNet satellite modem, not on your computer. This makes the satellite service computer independent.
